Description
In this video I unbox a Baofeng UV-5R radio and demonstrate how to configure it to receive the narrowband FM signal that the ISS (International Space Station) transmits for Voice, APRS and SSTV signals.

great to know that we can listen to astronaut passing by. That would be a flattard breaker haha.
But I’m still unable to listen to them with my baofeng uv5re both with default antenna and nagoya NA773.
On freq 145800 I didnt receive any receive signal. But with 145825 (I got this from ariss.org/contact-the-iss.html), there’s receive signal, but only a tone noise (you now, the phone button sound but fast).
You have any idea what I’ve missed?
btw I’m using ISS Detector, and only test it if the ISS is >40 degree
The flatearth believers think it’s fake and transmitted from the ground 🙂
I am glad to hear you got the APRS packet (phone sound), you can also decode this if recorded.
For voice you need to listen when they transmit and they pass over at a location somewhat nearby.
For some of these events I have made videos about, it was events around 500 or 1000km away I think, so not “next door” but also not on another continent.
